Happy 146th!!

Happy Canada Day Weekend friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend in all of this amazing sunshine! Here are a few things that I love about being Canadian:

  • the landscape: second largest nation means there's an enormous amount of beauty coast to coast
  • our peaceful reputation: I love that I can proudly wear a canadian flag on my backpack while travelling - even if it means people repeatedly ask me to say "about"
  • living freely as a woman in an equal opportunity society
  • the foxes: both Terry and Michael J
  • toques - I have 7. Yes, that's right daily toques
  • two words: Ryan Gosling
  • That we have a sense of humour: Phil Hartman, Will Arnett, Seth Rogen, Martin Short, Jim Carrey, Eric McCormack, Mike Myers, Eugene Levy, John Candy, Catherine O'Hara, Michael Cera
  • If you say, did you watch the game? we all know what you mean.
  • that we all know someone who has curled
  • That we roared together as a nation during the 2010 Winter Olympics and we all remember where we were when Sidney Crosby scored in overtime
  • that if someone says they're having a double double, we know what the $&%* they are talking about
  • real maple syrup
  • talented singer songwriters: Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Sarah McLachlan
  • that I've seen bears, orcas, moose, eagles, elk, beaver (yes, there's a joke in there I'm sure), all in their natural habitats
  • that canoeing, snowshoeing, mountain biking can all be done in a day
  • our health care & education system (yes, we are taxed up the wazoo, but I'd rather not go without)
  • that our nation fared well during the recession
  • lululemon (aka: my maternity leave uniform)
  • year long maternity leave
  • local farmer's markets
  • literary legends: Margaret Atwood, Douglas Coupland, Alice Munro, Farley Mowat, Robertson Davies, and on goes the list...
  • bc wineries
  • our amazing inventions: (the light bulb, the telephone, insulin, zipper, Canadarm, basketball, wonderbra - my boobs thank you)
My name is Kelly and I. Am. Canadian.
