party time

It's always happy hour when you can't read a clock yet.

Happy Friday!

Goodnight lovelies! We had a busy day playing with friends (can't bring myself to use the term playdate), meeting up with family for lunch and having friends in for drinks and sushi. All three were spur of the moment plans. Don't you love it when days just have a way of unfolding perfectly? xo

tradition

They greet each other this way every day before Dad walks through the front door. As soon as he pulls into the driveway, she runs to the window to wait for him.

today i......

Today I put on my brave girl underwear and marched into a lululemon store and got myself outfitted for my hot yoga classes. I couldn't pretend any longer that the full length yoga pants and tank top that I had been sporting to class were doing the trick while everyone around me was nearly nekkkid. "Who me? Oh, I'm totally cool in my head-to-toe fabric, thanks for asking. I wear this all the time to the sauna." The pools of sweat on my yoga mat, didn't lie - I needed to gear down or I would pass out. Cool was the one thing I wasn't. The time had come to admit to myself that I had to get those impossibly shorty-short shorts if I was going to avoid fainting. So here I was in Lulu's changeroom, or the carnival house of mirrors as I like to call it. Shorts, shorts everywhere shorts! I felt like a dog chasing its tail trying to avoid my reflection - spinning in circles. You see angles of yourself that you have NEVER seen before. "Is someone in here with me? What IS that?" are just a sample of the questions that may arise.
But I did it. I committed to the purchase.
So, tomorrow I will stand tall in my class, even if half my attire is missing. Do something a little brave for yourself (and celebrate your body, no matter what stage of transition it is in - it's who you are at this moment in time). xo

double bubble

I was blowing bubbles for my little girl to dance among and caught this photo. It looks like two rings are suspended within the bubbles. Joined for life, we are. xo

500 days of Summer

Have you seen 500 Days of Summer? It's a charming little film from 2009 that I caught again this past weekend. It's the kind of story I aspire to write one day, a creative re-working of boy meets girl. It takes a nonlinear look at the 500 day relationship of Tom (Joseph Gordon Levitt) and Summer (Zooey Deschanel). In one scene, we might see day 120 of their relationship and the next day 14, bouncing back and forth between the euphoric beginning and the cracks beginning to surface. Above is a scene from the film that I found so moving and brilliantly shot about how often our expectations do not align with reality. I hope you get a chance to check this sweet film out. (PS- The soundtrack is outstanding). xo

my little ginger

I didn't intend to post another photo of my little love today, but we had a busy day at a class together, played in the park and I did a hot yoga class, all of which I wanted to be present and not snapping photos. So, here's a photo of her little red 'fro. I hope she embraces this hair of hers when she grows up. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but her favourite songs are from "Annie" - perhaps she recognizes a little red headed idol.
