500 days of Summer

Have you seen 500 Days of Summer? It's a charming little film from 2009 that I caught again this past weekend. It's the kind of story I aspire to write one day, a creative re-working of boy meets girl. It takes a nonlinear look at the 500 day relationship of Tom (Joseph Gordon Levitt) and Summer (Zooey Deschanel). In one scene, we might see day 120 of their relationship and the next day 14, bouncing back and forth between the euphoric beginning and the cracks beginning to surface. Above is a scene from the film that I found so moving and brilliantly shot about how often our expectations do not align with reality. I hope you get a chance to check this sweet film out.
