We saw Silver Linings Playbook. Have you seen it? It's the first movie we've seen in over a year at an actual theatre. I loved it. Bradley Cooper plays Pat Solitano, who returns home after spending eight months in a state institution, to live with his parents (Robert De Niro/Jacki Weaver). Through mutual friends, Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a woman battling her own problems since the death of her husband. Together Tiffany and Pat strike up a friendship, where Pat agrees to help Tiffany with her dance competition, if she'll help him reconnect with his estranged wife (who has a restraining order against him). Cooper, Lawrence and De Niro were all nominated for the coveted oscar, and the film, director and writing team all picked up nominations too. It was very funny, deeply moving and the chemistry between Cooper and Lawrence was palpable. I loved Jennifer Lawrence ever since A Winter's Bone and in Silver Linings she gives such an honest and gritty portrayal of a woman who is unapologetic in her unravelling. Cooper absolutely shines as bi-polar Pat, an unflappable optimist trying to repair the damaged life he left behind. Yep, I swooned.

Happy Friday Friends! What's on your line up this weekend? We're taking the little one snowshoeing with friends (Translation: hubby will carry her in a backpack up the mountain and partway up the hills, I'll play it cool, trying to cover up the huffing and puffing, and secretly wishing that I too was being carried in said backpack.) 

Are you going to watch the golden globes on Sunday? I'm looking forward to it. I absolutely love Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (have you seen Parks and Recreation? Brilliant.) I can't wait to see the ladies rock it. Here's their watch-along drinking game they devised. 

This week the nominees for the Academy Awards came out. Have you seen any of the Best Picture contenders? Check out this preview of Beasts of the Southern Wild, nine year old Quvenzhane Wallis is up for best actress. Doesn't she look spell-binding? Nine. Incredible. At nine I was far too busy watching Three's Company episodes and spinning my Rock '81 K-tel album to pursue a career in acting, thank you very much. 

Do you like the movie theatre experience? Nowadays with people having such sophisticated televisions, with state of the art surround sound systems, more people seem to prefer staying in and skipping the crowd noise. Personally, I haven't been to a movie in over a year (due to child/not to any kind of sophisticated home theatre set up) and am excited to finally see a movie this weekend in an actual theatre. The previews, a room full of laughter, the sticky floors - ah bliss. We're thinking of starting the list with Silver Linings Playbook because, as you know, if you have to start the list anywhere, you should always start with Bradley Cooper.

Today we gathered up seven of the little ones for some play time. Shortly after Stella was born, public health put together some "new parent" info sessions where we met this amazing group of women. We swapped numbers and kept our little mom's group going. We put together a facebook page for other local moms to join up and now the group has 25 members. The babies are only about a month or two apart in age, so it's a great chance for us to bounce questions off one another, to let them have some playtime and for us to have some much needed adult conversation. I've really enjoyed watching these babies grow together and seeing their little personalities emerge.

One thing I really like about doing the 365 project, is that it makes me more of an observer of my surroundings - truly living in the moment to seek out a shot. Tonight was just one of those dash home from work, make dinner for the little one, then for us, then hit the gym once she's gone to bed - kind of nights. But sometimes, if you take a moment, you can see the beauty in your routine. xo

I know what you're thinking....that grade A klutz you know so well has dropped her lens into the sink - but for once tis not I that is the fool, tis you! It's my new travel mug. I absolutely love it. But yes, there was a moment when I opened it up at Christmas that I thought I had received a new sweet ass lens.
